Nearly 200 countries met in Glasgow to set more ambitious goals to reduce climate change under the <a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/process-and-meetings\/the-paris-agreement\/the-paris-agreement\">Paris Agreement<\/a>. National Grid leaders participated in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgrid.com\/cop26\/event\">series of events<\/a> and hosted a panel discussion titled, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/showcase\/8982541\/video\/642658707\">Innovating our Way to Net-Zero: How Startup Investments Can Help Solve the Climate Crisis<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During COP26, Copperleaf<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/copperleaf-test.majortom.dev\/leadership\/judi-hess\/\">Judi Hess<\/a> interviewed <a href=\"https:\/\/ngpartners.com\/people\/#\">Lisa Lambert<\/a>, National Grid Chief Technology &amp; Innovation Officer and National Grid Partners (NGP) Founder &amp; President, about how Copperleaf is helping National Grid implement its net-zero and climate change strategies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ngpartners.com\/\">NGP<\/a> is National Grid\u2019s venture investment and innovation arm. One of its mandates is to invest in high-growth companies with disruptive technologies that can help National Grid make its electricity and natural gas networks cleaner, smarter, and more resilient while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Lisa also discussed NGP\u2019s role in launching the <a href=\"https:\/\/ngalliance.energy\/\">NextGrid Alliance<\/a>, which brings the world\u2019s energy providers together to share best practices and address some of the industry\u2019s key challenges, including planning for net zero.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iea.org\/reports\/net-zero-by-2050\">International Energy Agency<\/a>, annual clean energy investment worldwide will need to more than triple by 2030, to around $5 trillion, to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. \u201cUsing software as a plan of record for how we\u2019re performing, measuring, tracking, reporting, assessing, optimizing, and implementing our progress is really key,\u201d Lisa explained.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VTPvLBGIWJA?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h5>Leading the way in asset management<\/h5>\n<p>According to Lisa, one of the key things that attracted NGP to Copperleaf is our focus on asset management and decision analytics. For example, National Grid is looking for ways to quantify earnings value at risk for climate, physical, and transition factors.
