Making the highest-value asset investment decisions
Network Rail selected the Copperleaf Decision Analytics Solution to help manage Britain’s railway infrastructure, which includes 20,000 miles of track, 30,000 bridges, tunnels and viaducts, and thousands of signals, level crossings and stations. The Copperleaf solution provides an enterprise-wide platform for strategic asset modeling and investment planning. It is being used to forecast work volumes, outputs, and expenditure across Network Rail’s entire asset base.
The Copperleaf solution has allowed National Grid to transform and modernize existing business capabilities as well as embed new functions in the planning and optimization space.
Previously our asset management plans were siloed and planning was all done in Excel. This approach made it difficult to assess different types of constraints and scenarios, and did not support an optimized portfolio of investments. Now this can all be done in the Copperleaf system, which allows for better collaboration, visibility, and more objective decisions.
The initial phase focused on delivering immediate value by getting the Copperleaf solution up and running quickly to enhance our Asset Investment Planning (AIP) processes. The second phase involves analyzing integration requirements with other enterprise applications, such as SAP.
